Improvement in Shorelline Preservation Facilities

Of the coast of Tokyo Bay and those of Tokyo’s islands, which total approximately 765 km in length, the Bureau has designated about 46 km on 26 coasts, including those with high risk of damage by waves and those that have been severely eroded, as shoreline preservation area. To protect shoreline against waves due to seasonal winds and typhoons, the Bureau is constructing shoreline preservation structures such as revetments and artificial reefs.
